At a glance
- Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.
- The site works with a keyboard alone, with screen readers, with zoom and with “reduce motion” turned on.
- Found a barrier? Email us — we aim to respond within five business days.
Our commitment
NYsweets LLC is committed to making the Sweet's website accessible to people with disabilities. We design and build the site to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and we treat accessibility issues as bugs that need fixing — not as nice-to-haves.
What we’ve built in
- Clear structure. Every page uses proper landmarks and a logical heading order, and a “Skip to content” link is the first thing you reach with the keyboard.
- Full keyboard support. The menu, age confirmation, bag, filters, tabs and carousels all work without a mouse, with a clearly visible focus indicator.
- Screen reader support. Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative artwork is hidden from assistive technology. Result counts, form errors and bag updates are announced.
- Readable color. Text meets WCAG contrast minimums, and information is never conveyed by color alone — strain types, for example, always carry a text label.
- Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, drifting clouds, animated scrolling and other effects are switched off. Scrolling banners also pause when you hover over them.
- Zoom & small screens. Text can be resized and pages reflow to a single column on small screens without losing content.
- Accessible forms. Every field has a visible label, optional fields are marked, and errors are explained in text, linked to the field and announced — with focus moved to the first field that needs attention.
- Comfortable tap targets. Buttons and links on touch screens are sized to be easy to hit.
How we test
Our process includes:
- automated checks with axe-core on our page templates;
- keyboard-only walkthroughs of every interactive feature;
- screen reader reviews with VoiceOver (macOS and iOS) and NVDA (Windows);
- testing at multiple zoom levels and screen sizes, with reduced motion on and off.
Known limitations
We’re honest about where things aren’t perfect yet:
- Store map. The interactive map on Find Us can be hard to use with assistive technology. Every store is also listed as text with its address and a directions link.
- Age confirmation requires JavaScript. If JavaScript is turned off in your browser, you won’t be able to confirm your age and enter the site.
- Third-party services. Merch checkout is hosted by our e-commerce provider, and dispensary menus and maps are run by other companies. We choose partners with accessibility commitments but don’t control their sites.
If one of these gets in your way, contact us and we’ll help you directly.
Compatibility
The site is designed to work with current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile, and with VoiceOver, NVDA and TalkBack. It isn’t designed for retired browsers such as Internet Explorer.
Feedback & assistance
If you run into an accessibility barrier, or need information from the site in a different format — such as a plain-text version of a policy or a product’s lab results — please let us know. It helps to include:
- the page address (URL) where you had trouble;
- what you were trying to do and what happened; and
- the device, browser and any assistive technology you use.
Email hello@sweetsny.com or use our contact form. We aim to respond within five business days, and we’ll work with you until the issue is resolved.
Ongoing work
Accessibility isn’t a one-time project. We review the site whenever we add features or content, and we update this statement when things change.
